Special Districts
Special Districts are political entities that are independent of any county or municipal government, and are generally single-purpose for services like water, fire, recreation, community improvement, etc. The US Census Bureau lists them as a local government unit. School Districts are NOT considered special districts and are a separate form of government according to the US Census Bureau; though, for simplicity of the list, they will be included here.
