As typical with the Yucatán peninsula, really all municipal symbols represent Maya culture/history in some way, especially through the use of a figure, pyramid,
or perhaps the Tree of Life. Rivers, cattle-raising, agriculture (with corn and wheat), and a local church are
also represented often.
* - There is a flag at the Ciudad del Carmen convention center with the coat of arms and name for each municipality, hoisted on flagpoles.
